What is the Death Penalty?
The death penalty was first established and introduced as early as the eighteenth century B.C. This was due to the Code of King Hammaurabi of Babylon, who codified the death penalty for 25 different crimes. From then on, the Death Penalty became one of the most popular forms of excecution. In the sixteenth Century, under the ruling of HernryVIII, it was estimated that 72,000 people were excecuted. By the 1700s, two hundred and twenty two crimes were punishable by death in Britain. These include;
